Product Description

The world's first macro lens equipped with SWM and VR systems.
Nikon has today announced the Nikon AF-S VR Micro Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF,
the world's first macro lens equipped with Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM) and
Vibration Reduction (VR) systems. The Nikon VR 105mm f/2.8G ED offers a host of
Nikon's other advanced optical features such as Nano Crystal Coating, Extra Low
Dispersion (ED) glass and Internal Focusing (IF).
The AF-S VR Micro-Nikkor 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED is engineered for use with both
Nikon 35mm film SLR cameras and Nikon DX format digital SLR's like the Nikon
D2X, D200, and the Nikon D70s.
The effects of camera shake are usually amplified in close-up photography and
can greatly affect image quality and sharpness. The incorporation of Nikon VR
technology in a Micro-Nikkor lens expands versatility by, for the first time,
providing the sharpness benefits of VR and improving hand-held close-up
photography.
With the VR II function incorporated in the Nikon AF-S VR Micro Nikkor 105mm
f/2.8G ED-IF lens, photographers can capture sharp images at shutter speeds
approximately 4 stops slower at near infinity to 3m (at approximately 1/30x
reproduction ratio) than would otherwise be possible. As the reproduction ratio
increases from 1/30x, the effects of vibration reduction gradually decrease.
(Approximately 1 stop compensation at 1:1 magnification ratio)
