Nikon Z8 - Huge on power, small in stature
The Nikon Z8 is a high-resolution mirrorless camera that boasts a superb 45.7MP
FX-format image sensor and 8K UHD video recording. Thanks to the inclusion of
the advanced EXPEED 7 image processor, the Z8 offers lightning-fast performance
speeds and features a real-time viewfinder, pre-release capture, rapid-fire
autofocus, and much more. The AF system of the Z8 is notable for its tracking
performance, being able to detect and track a range of different subjects. As
well as the top video resolution of 8K, the Z8 also offers 4K60p video, and with
long record times of up to 125 minutes, you'll be pleased to find dual memory
card slots for managing files. If you want the most from your Nikon Z mirrorless
camera but would like it to be as portable and lightweight as possible, the
streamlined Nikon Z8 is the best choice for you.
Advanced video functionality
The Nikon Z8 has a host of advanced video-friendly functions that
enthusiasts and even professional video users will enjoy, with pro-level 10-bit
and 12-bit recording offered, all in-camera. These include a new N-RAW file
format, which packs 12-bit RAW quality into a files size that is half as large,
12-Bit ProRes RAW HQ, which is the chosen format of professionals, ProRes 422
HQ, and H.265. The Nikon Z8 can provide high-quality 4K footage that is down
sampled from 8K, so sharpness and clarity are out of this world, while even the
audio quality of your video work is outstanding, thanks to 24-bit/48 kHz audio
recording. Hi-Res zoom is available in both Full HD and 4K UHD recording, and it
is a feature that allows you to zoom in 2x closer to your subject with the push
of a button, while using a Nikon prime lens.
Rugged and powerful, but still portable
The Nikon Z8 is a portable and lightweight device, despite its advanced
functionality and wide scope of features. Despite this portability, the Z8 is
suitable for use in varied climates, thanks to its robust qualities. This camera
is dust and drip-resistant, is made to withstand low temperatures, and functions
excellently, while the body is made from a range of high-end materials,
including the brand-new and lightweight Sereebo P material. The sensor of the Z8
is just as protected, with its optical filter including the same double-coating
process as the Z9 before it, which both repels dust and also makes it far easier
to wipe away. It is far easier and safer to change lenses on your Nikon Z8,
thanks to the built-in sensor shield, and the VR lock mechanism that is
activated when the camera is powered off and protects it from damage by shakes
and jolts.
Frame your images in your way
The Nikon Z8 really spoils you if you require varied subject composition
options. The huge LCD screen of this camera features 4-axis vertical and
horizontal tilting, so you can experiment with framing, whether you are in front
of or behind the camera lens. Prefer the classic eye-level approach? This camera
supports this with a high-quality real-live viewfinder, which supports a 120fps
refresh rate, for smoother viewing of fast-moving subjects. The compact
well-balanced body of the Nikon Z8 is a joy to hold in your hands, and handheld
shooting is well supported, thanks to the built-in VR stabilization, as well as
VR Synchro, which pairs this built-in stabilization with the VR of select Nikon
lenses - this results in up to 6-stops of shake-free protection.
Introducing Pre-Release Capture
The Nikon Z8 allows you to stay in touch with the action, even if it occurs
before you are totally ready to capture it. This camera delivers pre-release
capture, which involves you half-pressing the shutter button, so the camera can
start buffering images. Once the action starts and you fire the shutter, you can
also enjoy images from up to 1 second before and 4 seconds after you finish
shooting, so it's easier than ever to capture the best possible angle of all of
the action.
Stay powered up while on the go
While running on the power of the long-life Nikon EN-EL15C lithium battery,
the Nikon Z8's shooting times can be enhanced by using the MB-N12 power battery
back, which as well as being dust and drip-resistant like the rest of the
camera, provides up to 1.8x extra shooting power. In other good news for
on-the-go shooters, this camera can even be charged while you shoot, using a
mobile battery, thanks to the camera including dual USB ports, one for data and
one for charging.
