The 509HD video head features an exclusive Manfrotto patent, Bridging
Technology, which allows for greater load capacity as well as revolutionary
performance levels. The "bridge" design also assists the PAN friction control to
be more intuitive and easy to set while protecting against any knocks that may
occur during the recording process. The 509HD's FDS (Fluid Drag System) is
variable and directly controls action and resistance on both axes; the
ergonomics of the controls have been noticeably improved to make use of the FDS
even easier.
Another unique feature is the ABR (Advanced Balance Recorder). This new
patented electronic solution permits the head to record the perfect balance
position of the equipment and recall it any time. By using LED lights controlled
by a proximity sensor, it is easy to quickly slide the camera to the previously
set perfect balance. New quick links are machined aluminum machined inserts that
allow strong attachment of accessories to the head. The pan bar telescopes for
quick and perfect adjustment and has a textured handle for comfort. All of this
